This love’s gone viral –
lethal, it can kill if you’re young, weak, or ill
even the vigorous
can barely stand it

The virus hits again --
feverish, she’s a ghost of who she was
ghastly
a pretend friend, mean
a member of the newly dead
Let us mourn for her then, since we must
there she is in the rain, spectral,
cold, small, wrinkled, and wet
